DnD Zerathuuni Race

The Zerathu­u­ni are a mys­te­ri­ous and war­like race orig­i­nat­ing from the dis­tant plan­et Zerathu­un, a world that once stood under their dom­i­na­tion. Once, they were pow­er­ful war­riors, mas­ters of dis­ci­pline and inner strength. But those days are gone.

Planet Zerathuun

The plan­et Zerathu­un is now in the hands of the dread­ed Mind Slay­ers bizarre, psion­ic beings with octo­pus-like heads. These Illithids con­quered the plan­et and reduced the proud Zerathu­u­ni to noth­ing more than ser­vants. The dom­i­na­tion was bru­tal and mer­ci­less. The Mind Slay­ers seek absolute con­trol, hoard mag­ic as a weapon, and dream of sub­ju­gat­ing mul­ti­ple worlds.

Oppressors

The Zerathu­u­ni hate their oppres­sors with every fiber of their being. Many try to escape from Zerathu­un, but only a few suc­ceed. Those who man­age to flee remain hunt­ed, for the Mind Slay­ers nev­er allow any­thing or any­one that threat­ens their pow­er to slip away.

Appearance

Zerathu­u­ni appear as lean, mus­cu­lar humanoids with green or gray-green skin, point­ed ears, and mark­ings or dots across their bod­ies. Their eyes shine with an inner fire the result of cen­turies of strug­gle for free­dom and iden­ti­ty.

Paul

Recent­ly, a Zerathu­u­ni has been sight­ed in your D&D world. His name is Paul per­haps an unex­pect­ed name for an inter­stel­lar refugee, but do not under­es­ti­mate him. Paul car­ries the trau­ma of his peo­ple with him, and he is being hunt­ed by a feared Mind Slay­er named Drak’zuhl, who is deter­mined to cap­ture or elim­i­nate him.

Elder Brain

The Mind Slay­ers are led by a malev­o­lent, ancient being known as Xul’thekar, also called the Elder Brain. This enti­ty com­mands the Illithid with pure men­tal pow­er and is plan­ning the next step in their galac­tic expan­sion.

The bat­tle between the Zerathu­u­ni and the Mind Slay­ers is far from over… and now your world risks becom­ing entan­gled in the mid­dle of it.

Stats

  • Abil­i­ty Score Increase. When deter­min­ing your character’s abil­i­ty scores, increase one score by 2 and increase a dif­fer­ent score by 1, or increase three dif­fer­ent scores by 1. You can’t raise any of your scores above 20.
  • Crea­ture Type. You are a Humanoid.
  • Size. You are Medi­um.
  • Speed. Your walk­ing speed is 30 feet.

  • Age. Zerathu­u­ni mature slow­er than humans do. reach­ing matu­ri­ty around age 40. Their life span is typ­i­cal­ly 350 years, with some liv­ing to the age of 500.
  • Zerathu­u­ni Psion­ics. You know the Mage Hand cantrip, and the hand is invis­i­ble when you cast the cantrip with this trait.
    • Start­ing at 3rd lev­el, you can cast the Shield spell with this trait. Start­ing at 5th lev­el, you can also cast the Detect Thoughts spell with it. Once you cast Shield or Detect Thoughts with this trait, you can’t cast that spell with it again until you fin­ish a long rest. You can also cast either of those spells using any spell slots you have of the appro­pri­ate lev­el.
    • Intel­li­gence, Wis­dom, or Charis­ma is your spell­cast­ing abil­i­ty for these spells when you cast them with this trait (choose when you select this race). None of these spells require spell com­po­nents when you cast them with this trait.
  • Men­tal Dis­ci­pline. Your innate psy­chic defens­es grant you advan­tage on sav­ing throws you make to avoid or end the charmed and fright­ened con­di­tions on your­self.
  • Psy­chic Resilience. You have resis­tance to psy­chic dam­age.
  • Lan­guages: Your char­ac­ter can speak, read, and write. Com­mon, Gith and the lan­guage of Space: Spo­ri­an, plus one oth­er lan­guage that you want.
