Golem
DnD Golem Race
Golems are ancient, magical beings once created as protectors of the world. Centuries ago, they guarded kingdoms, temples, and forgotten magic. Now, they stand motionless like statues slumbering sentinels scattered throughout nature. They can only be awakened with a Life Stone. Whoever possesses and uses such a stone can bring a Golem back to life. Often, the Golem will protect its new master or group but not always. Some Golems awaken hostile or feral, attacking without warning.
Bond with Halflings
Most of the known, active Golems are found among the Halflings. They share a mysterious bond with these magical beings. It seems that Halflings alone instinctively know how to awaken a Golem. Whether this is forgotten magic or an ancient pact no one knows for sure. Even the Halflings themselves no longer remember the origin of this connection.
Appearance, Materials, and Locations
Golems resemble statues, often crafted from natural materials. The most common types are:
• Stone Golems: Made of solid stone. Usually found in caves, ruins, and ancient mountain temples.
• Clay Golems: Formed from hardened clay, often found in deserts or at abandoned oases.
• Wooden Golems: Created from roots, branches, or petrified wood. Typically located in deep forests.
• Man-Made Golems: Adventurers sometimes attempt to build their own Golem, but without a true Life Stone, it remains nothing more than a lifeless statue.
Golems can be encountered in the wild in forests, mountains, deserts, or even swamps. Because they stand immobile for centuries, many races mistake them for symbolic monuments of nature. Some even believe they are mere statues, unaware that a slumbering being lies within.
Life Stones
A Life Stone is a rare magical gem, essential for awakening a Golem. They are sometimes found in magical markets but are most commonly discovered in the Halfling lands. Without such a stone, a Golem remains silent and lifeless a relic of magic that is nearly forgotten.
