Octopodes

D&D Octopodes Race
(also known as Octofolk)

The Octopodes, often called Octofolk, are an aquatic race that make their home in the deep seas of the D&D world. While they can survive temporarily on land, their cities and settlements are primarily underwater. They share their environment with other sea-dwelling peoples and often live in caves on the seafloor or in the mysterious sunken city of Atlantis. The underwater communities are collectively governed by a council of leaders, which includes representatives from multiple sea races.
A member of the Octofolk race is also part of this
council. Every five years, a new king or queen is
elected to make final decisions for the underwater
realms.

Appearance and Traits

Octofolk resemble a cross between a humanoid and an octopus. They have a head reminiscent of an octopus, with large eyes and soft, flexible skin. Instead of legs, they have multiple tentacles that allow them to move fluidly and quickly through water. In addition, they have two functional arms that enable them to hold objects or wield weapons. Like real octopuses, they can expel ink, a skill they often use to escape danger.

Religion

Both the Octofolk and the Whalefolk worship a powerful sea deity known as Thal’Krabb, the Guardian of the Depths. This god appears in visions as a massive crab adorned with golden ornaments and ruins on its shell, as if ancient ships and temples have settled upon its back. Thal’Krabb symbolizes immense power, the vast memory of the ocean, and the unpredictability of the sea. His followers often build temples in his likeness, and his image adorns many shrines throughout Atlantis.
