Giff

D&D Giff Race

The Giff are a remarkable and imposing species who live in the land of Royaume. They resemble large, upright hippos with a flair for drama and decadence. Royaume is famous (and infamous)
for many things: its delicious food (such as cheese, wine, snails and other “interesting” delicacies), fashion, art and culture, impressive monuments like the Roy Tower and the mysterious Bona, and of course their signature color combination of red, blue and white, a reflection of their pride and
power.

Royaume

What truly makes Royaume unique is the bizarre shape of the land itself. Parts of the landscape literally resemble food. There is a region that looks like a giant piece of cheese, another shaped like an enormous baguette, and a third that takes the form of a wine bottle. The entire kingdom seems built on a mix of culinary pride and visual confusion.

Lifestyle

The Giff are known as a wealthy, overly proper and pompous people. Most of them wear expensive clothing, perfumed wigs and keep their noses in the air, a style inspired by both French aristocracy and the English walrus folk. They love luxury,
cleanliness and imperialism. Conquering land is, to a Giff, a form of art.

Relations With Other Races

Although the Giff consider themselves the most refined species in the multiverse, they are not exactly open to other races. In fact, the average Giff has a strong dislike for other peoples unless they are rich and powerful. In that case, they suddenly become much friendlier. Status and wealth are everything to the Giff when it comes to respect and acceptance.

Napoleon Bonagiffte

The current leader of Royaume is the infamous Napoleon Bonagiffte, a perfectly dressed but notably small Giff. His height is a sensitive subject. He has paintings altered so he appears taller, and no one dares to mention it. Napoleon was once a simple seller of sour candies, the well-known “Napoleons”, and even now a crystal bowl filled with his signature sweets is always present in his palace.

Monsieur Samm Le Grandiose

Napoleon is supported by his right-hand man, Monsieur Samm Legrandiose, captain of the flagship Le Vin (“The Wine”).
Monsieur Samm is the proud owner of the most prestigious
wine brand in the kingdom, Le FATbastard, an extremely
expensive wine he loves to brag about. Yet Samm always lives in theshadow of his emperor. He longs to earn Napoleon’s pride, but that recognition remains rare.

Monsieur Samm often ventures out with his crew to conquer
territories or defeat pirates. His greatest enemy is Floyd “Tall Tale” Choldmonkey, a cunning Apeling and notorious captain
of the pirate ship The Blue Eye. Although Samm fights bravely,
he unfortunately loses to Floyd a bit too often, much to his
frustration.
