What does the city look like?
Nes­sus is a des­o­late, rocky waste­land of, mas­sive, black, icy rifts and immense, jagged, flame-filled chasms that plunge miles deep. It is a, dark, claus­tro­pho­bic, and, fiery city, often char­ac­ter­ized by, a swirling crim­son void, and fea­tur­ing the mas­sive fortress of Mal­sheem.

How many races live in this city?
Nes­sus is inhab­it­ed by the high­est-rank­ing dev­ils, includ­ing Asmodeus, pit fiends, and amnizus. This des­o­late, cold lay­er fea­tures denizens such as Cor­nu­gons, Paeliryons, Gel­u­gons, Hell hounds and Tieflings, along with spe­cial­ized guards like the Spark Hunters.

What are the cul­ture and tra­di­tions?
The lay­er embod­ies absolute pride, cun­ning, and relent­less ambi­tion, reflect­ing Asmodeus’s char­ac­ter. Its cities, adorned with mon­u­ments and trea­sures from con­quered realms, are designed to awe and intim­i­date, while the grotesque remains of defeat­ed arch-dev­ils cau­tion against hubris. Nes­sus also func­tions as a man­u­fac­tur­ing hub for fine goods and mag­i­cal items, show­ing the cun­ning inte­gra­tion of com­merce and cru­el­ty in infer­nal soci­ety.

Fun Fact: The Tiefling mid­wife Des­tiny Agganor from Night­stone had a set of runes burned onto her front door to ward off unwant­ed vis­i­tors. It con­tained a prayer that includ­ed damn­ing any intrud­ers to burn in Nes­sus for almost a cen­tu­ry!

What is the tra­di­tion­al dress­code?
Medieval cloth­ing in red or black or a com­bi­na­tion of both, and some­times they wear armour.

What reli­gion pre­vails in the city?
The dev­il Asmodeus rules this city.

What does the leader of this city look like?
Asmodeus is the Lord of Hell. He typ­i­cal­ly appears as a tall, strik­ing­ly hand­some, and charis­mat­ic dev­il over 13 feet tall with deep red skin, black hair, small horns, and glow­ing red eyes. He is usu­al­ly dressed in exquis­ite, regal fin­ery and car­ries the Ruby Rod of Asmodeus, a pow­er­ful arti­fact.

What is the sym­bol of the city?
The pri­ma­ry sym­bol of Asmodeus, the Lord of Hell, is three invert­ed tri­an­gles arranged in a long tri­an­gle. It is some­times depict­ed as a red, nar­row tri­an­gle point­ed down­ward with a y‑shaped por­tion cut out, or a styl­ized, horned human fig­ure ris­ing from a pit of flames.

How do crea­tures trav­el in this city?
By car, ship and through fly­ing.
