The Sharkin are a fierce sea­far­ing peo­ple who dwell both in deep ocean­ic cav­erns and in the sunken city of Atlantis. Known for their strength and vig­i­lance, they serve as the guardians and pro­tec­tors of the under­wa­ter world. They play an impor­tant role in the Coun­cil of the Depths, where one of their might­i­est war­riors or most tac­ti­cal lead­ers holds a seat.

Appearance and Traits

Sharkin are humanoids with fea­tures rem­i­nis­cent of var­i­ous shark species, rang­ing from ham­mer­heads to tiger sharks. They pos­sess mus­cu­lar bod­ies, sharp fins, razor-like teeth, and pow­er­ful tails. Both males and females retain their shark-like traits, though some female Sharkin dis­play more stream­lined, dol­phin-like fea­tures that make them excep­tion­al­ly agile in the water. Their eyes are keen, their sens­es high­ly devel­oped, and their very pres­ence is often enough to keep ene­mies at bay.

Role and Society

The Sharkin are pri­mar­i­ly employed as pro­tec­tors of Atlantis. They serve as body­guards for impor­tant coun­cil mem­bers and as defend­ers of sacred under­wa­ter sites. They are deeply loy­al to their kin and com­mu­ni­ty but not all of them fol­low the same path.

Some Sharkin are involved in dark­er pur­suits. In the shad­owy cor­ners of under­wa­ter cities, a crim­i­nal net­work thrives, where cer­tain Sharkin engage in smug­gling, theft, and even pira­cy. This dual­i­ty makes their peo­ple both fas­ci­nat­ing and dan­ger­ous.

They fre­quent­ly clash with sur­face dwellers espe­cial­ly pirates and fish­er­men who steal shrimp and fish from their waters. Shrimp are con­sid­ered a del­i­ca­cy among Sharkin and are eat­en with great pride and pas­sion.

Faith

Like the Whale­folk and Octopodes, the Sharkin wor­ship the sea god Thal’Krabb, whom they regard as a pri­mor­dial force of both jus­tice and vengeance. His image often adorns their weapons and tat­toos, and many believe that Thal’Krabb grants them strength in bat­tle.

Stats

  • Abil­i­ty Score Increase. When deter­min­ing your character’s abil­i­ty scores, increase one score by 2 and increase a dif­fer­ent score by 1, or increase three dif­fer­ent scores by 1. You can’t raise any of your scores above 20.

  • Crea­ture Type. You are a Humanoid.

  • You are Medi­um.

  • Your walk­ing speed is 30 feet and your swim­ming speed is 30ft. You can breathe under­wa­ter.

  • while ful­ly sub­merged you have 30ft. blind­sight for every­thing that is in the same body of water.

  • Pow­er­ful Build. You count as one size larg­er when deter­min­ing your car­ry­ing capac­i­ty and the weight you can push, drag, or lift.

  • Relent­less Endurance. When you are reduced to 0 hit points but not killed out­right, you can drop to 1 hit point instead. Once you use this trait, you can’t do so again until you fin­ish a long rest and con­sume 1 ration worth of food.

  • Water Depen­den­cy. If you fail to immerse your­self in water for at least 1 hour dur­ing a day, you suf­fer 1 lev­el of exhaus­tion. You can recov­er from this exhaus­tion only through mag­ic or by immers­ing your­self in water for at least 1 hour.

  • Lan­guages: Your char­ac­ter can speak, read, and write. Com­mon, Shark and the lan­guage of your coun­try Fish and one oth­er lan­guage of your choice.
