Tar­tarus is envi­sioned as a night­mar­ish, invert­ed city locat­ed deep in hell, serv­ing as a chaot­ic, fiery, and des­o­late prison for the damned, mon­sters, and titans. It is often described as a dark, fog­gy pit sur­round­ed by triple-walled bronze for­ti­fi­ca­tions and the fiery, painful riv­er Phlegeth­on.

Orcus, the Demon Lord of Undeath, is a mas­sive (15–20 ft tall), bloat­ed demon with a, grey-skinned, human-like upper body and goat­ish legs with cloven hooves. He has a head like the skull of a goat, bat-like wings, a long, snake-like tail tipped with a poi­so­nous spike, and car­ries the Wand of Orcus.
